Press Release
Résumé
Writers Council of Arizona receives City of Phoenix Workforce
Connection Award
The
Résumé Writers Council of Arizona (RWCA),
an organization of professional résumé writers, received the
2004 City of Phoenix Workforce Connection Award for outstanding
volunteer service. The award, which is presented on an annual
basis, recognizes the contribution that RWCA members have made
by providing résumé reviews and career workshops to the unemployed
at City of Phoenix Résumé Fairs for the past few years.
"I'm
so proud of our group! If we had our way everyone in Arizona
would be employed. We donate as much time as we can to community
groups with underserved populations," said Brooke Andrews,
founder/president of RWCA and the nationally certified professional
résumé writer of A New Beginning Résumé Writing Service.
In
addition to the City of Phoenix, RWCA members have provided
outreach services to several local organizations including church
ministries, battered women's shelters, and The Fresh Start Foundation,
which helps women re-enter the workforce.
Sharon
Green, owner of Ace Resume, was
the originator of the alliance between RWCA and the City of
Phoenix. Green recognized a great opportunity to assist many
area job seekers who have been impacted by downsizing and outsourcing.
"It
is such a great feeling to help people who believe they have
exhausted all of their resources. We provided an overview of
what they should improve on their résumé to help them get that
all important interview,"
stated Green.
Donna
Tucker, owner of CareerPRO
Resume Center, coordinated
the event last April, which assisted more than 100 job seekers.
Tucker recruited other RWCA members to present workshops focused
on career-related topics and provide résumé critiques.
"Our
group believes in giving back to the community,"
said Tucker. "Our members are very generous with their
time and resources and have helped thousands of individuals
over the years through these types of events."
RWCA is an organization of professional résumé writers who are
dedicated to assisting job seekers in securing interviews through
the preparation of top-quality job search documents.
"Our members are committed to providing the best possible
service to our clients. Currently, our members are all working
toward gaining a national résumé writing certification through
one of several national organizations," stated Andrews.
"Our goal is to have every RWCA member hold the credentials
that prove their professionalism."
